Yellowstone Kayaking
Yellowstone National Park is truly one of the natural wonders of the world! This amazing national park has a million things to do, but for the kayaker it is truly a paradise!

As any visitor will tell you, one of the greatest features of Yellowstone National Park is its waterways and lakes. If you are a kayaker you will love Yellowstone. If you are a novice don’t worry—there are plenty of places to experience Yellowstone Kayakaking rentals.

There are several companies that offer kayak rentals in Yellowstone but only a few are officially sanctioned to offer tours. Do your research before renting a kayak in Yellowstone. If you know what you want to do or where you want to go then it makes little difference who you rent from. But if you are looking for a tour or a tour guide ask them if they are officially allowed to provide tours.

Most companies that offer kayak rentals can provide you with whatever type of kayak you need. This can include tandem kayaks, small one person kayaks, inflatable kayaks, sit-on-top kayaks, and sit-in kayaks. You will need to know which type you want to rent before going because the rental shops are naturally going to want to rent you the most expensive one they have and you might not have the skill or the budget for this type of kayak.

If you are a first time kayaker and do choose to rent a kayak in Yellowstone, perhaps the best type to select is the sit-on-top (SOT) version. Getting in a kayak for the first time can be quite tricky and the SOT style kayak is easier to get in. Many Yellowstone kayak rental shops, in addition to offering guided tours of the scenic National Park, also offer instructors who will help you quickly learn the art of kayaking. One you take your first kayak trip, in Yellowstone or anywhere else, you will be addicted!

Make sure when you do rent a kayak that they also provide you with the basic accessories. You should be able to also rent a life jacket (this should actually be included in the rental price of the kayak), purchase waterproof containers for your cell phone, and other necessary items.

One thing is for certain though, once you rent a kayak in Yellowstone National Park you will be itching to have your next vacation include kayaking. There is no experience anywhere in the world better than kayaking in Yellowstone!
